Volunteers the backbone at Animal Welfare League
Get started today!
Volunteers are an essential part of Animal Welfare League. We have a variety of volunteer opportunities at our Shelter, our Have A Hart Pet Retail Store, our Menagerie Thrift and Gift Store and with Fundraising/Events.
At the Shelter, Volunteers make an impact on the lives of our animals daily by providing them with the love and care necessary to keep them happy and healthy while they await their new family. We are always looking to add go-getters and animal advocates to our volunteer team! Please fill out a Volunteer Application and Interest Form. You can return these forms by dropping them off at our shelter located at 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Road SE in Vienna, by mail to P.O. Box 66, Vienna Ohio 44473 or you can e-mail them to email@example.com. You will then be contacted to attend a small, mandatory orientation. The review process may take several weeks and we appreciate your patience with us. Please note that we require a minimum commitment of 5 hours per month for 6 months and many positions will require scheduled shifts.
The Have a Hart Retail store is located at the entrance of the AWL Shelter. The proceeds from the store directly benefit the animals in the shelter by assisting with the shelter operating costs. Volunteer retail assistants are needed to work in the store. The store is open Tues-Sat 12pm-6pm. If you are interested in being a retail store volunteer, contact store manager Annette at the Have A Hart store, 330-539-5300.
The Menagerie Thrift and Gift store is located in Howland. Volunteers are always appreciated to help at the store: cashier, counter assistance, washing dishes, testing electrical products, and sorting donations. Please contact the Menagerie store manager Dawn at 330-856-5174 if you are interested in volunteering at this location.
Fundraising and Event Volunteers. AWL solely exists by the generous donations from the public. We receive no government funding. To offset our operating cost we are always fundraising. Volunteers are often needed to help at our fundraising events. Set up, selling raffle tickets, organizing activities, acquiring donations for Chinese Auctions and more! Additionally, to help support our mission and continue education on responsible pet ownership, AWL often participates at other events by setting up a booth or display. Volunteers are needed to man these booths, provide information on AWL, and collect donations. If you are interested in volunteering with our events or fundraisers please contact Volunteer Coordinator, Kayley Frost at 330-539-5300.
