Our Objectives
With a rise in unemployment and foreclosures, pet abandonment has reached unprecedented levels. Even loving pet owners must sometimes seek financial help for emergency medical care and food. More animals are abused as stress levels rise in human relationships. The need for safe, humane facilities and effective public service and education programs has never been greater; however, our small Shelter, and our dedicated staff and volunteers are stretched beyond their limits.
The Board of Directors of the Animal Welfare League has partnered with the Trumbull County Commissioners, County Dog Kennel and Trumbull Career & Technical Center (TCTC) to develop a comprehensive solution - the Animal Welfare Care & Education Center. This public/private partnership will create a one-of-a-kind resource center; it will address the crisis and prepare for the future by helping to build a more compassionate community.
To make this solution a reality, the Board has launched a $5 million Campaign to construct and equip a new, state-of-the-art animal Shelter and teaching facility at 812 Youngstown-Kingsville Rd. (State Route 193) Across from Squaw Creek Country Club.
